Dr. Juan Jose Martinez is a Detroit native, born and raised in the heart of Detroit. He holds his Doctorate in Education from Wayne State University focusing on Curriculum and Instruction, Bilingual, Bicultural Education. Dr. Martínez has decades of experience in the field of education. He began his professional career working at CHASS Health Center, moving later to Detroit Public School. His dedication to serving students led him to continue his work at Wayne State University where he was a counselor. At this time he was also serving as a member of the Detroit Board of Education. His work did not stop there, he continued and changed gears to become Assistant to the Hon. Dennis W. Archer and later as Chief of Staff, Hon. Sheila Cockrel. His passion for education was always in him. This was when he chose to come and continue supporting his Detroit community at César Chávez Academy High School were served as school leaders for more than 10 years and the Director of District Operations since 2016. Now, as Superintendent he hopes to continue impacting all schools and all students K-12.
