Dr. Bill Coats established The Leona Group in Michigan in 1996 with the belief that all children, regardless of their ethnicity, economic status, or educational disadvantage, can learn and achieve. Leona Group schools are located in primarily urban centers where there is the greatest need for educational choice and opportunity.

In the Midwest, Leona delivers a quality, tuition-free choice in public school education to more than 30 schools in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana. Each is built specifically to meet the needs of the community it serves - we don't expect one size to fit all when it comes to reaching and teaching kids!
